Raw Strawberry Vanilla Crunch Cereal with Strawberry Vanilla Hemp Milk

I have been making a lot of raw cereal lately, and I was recently talking to my boyfriend Eric about flavor ideas and fruity cereal came up.  Now, I have never been a fan of those fake flavored commercial cereals, but I started imagining what a raw whole foods based fruity cereal might taste like.

It began to appeal to me, and I decided on a strawberry cereal.  I had gotten my hands on tons of fresh berries so it was perfect!  I made the cereal a little sweet with coconut and vanilla and although it was delicious on its own, I knew it would be even more delicious with fresh strawberries and a non-dairy milk.

Although plain vanilla milk would have been good, I made a strawberry vanilla hemp milk and it was even better!  Now this is the type of breakfast I get excited about!

Raw Strawberry Vanilla Crunch Cereal with Strawberry Vanilla Hemp Milk

Raw Strawberry Vanilla Crunch Cereal
Makes about 4 cups

2 cups raw buckwheat groats
1/2 cup raw cocout nectar, agave nectar or maple syrup
1 cup finely shredded dried coconut
2 cups fresh strawberries
 1 tsp sea salt

Soak the buckwheat groats in filtered water for 30 minutes, then drain and rinse well.  Place in a food processor along with coconut nectar, coconut and sea salt and process until smooth.  Add strawberries and pulse until they are well incorporated, but you still have a few chunks.  Spread out onto a lined dehydrator sheet 1/8 inch thick.  Place in the dehydrator and dry for about 6 hours at 115F degrees then score into small one inch squares. Place back in the dehydrator and continue to dry for another 18 hours (it will be about 24 hours total) until completely dry and crisp.  Break apart and enjoy!

Raw Strawberry Vanilla Hemp Milk
Makes 4 cups

1 cup raw shelled hempseeds
4 cups filtered water
4-6 pitted medjool dates (depending on how sweet you want it)
seeds of one vanilla bean (or 1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract)
2 cups fresh organic strawberries

Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend for 1 minute until smooth (strain if desired, but I like it as is).

I was delighted to see this new cereal recipe. I tried the Raw Cacao Crunch Cereal and just loved it! Since I had planned to make more cereal today trying a new recipe was a plus. I had raspberries on hand so I substituted. I'll let you know how it tastes.

Amy, have you ever had HoneyComb cereal? When I was little, I used to love that. However, I never eat cereals nowadays (fruits, veggies, and nuts are usually my breakfast), just since store-bought cereals are so sugary and over-processed. But HoneyCombs were pretty yummy . . . that would be a cool raw cereal!

I think I did once but I was always a cinnamon toast crunch girl IF I ate cereal. I really didn't like it growing up haha. But the raw stuff I am making now I love! I bet if you took the base for a raw cereal and added honey it would be pretty yummy :)!

I wish I had a dehydrator! This looks so delicious. I plan on making the milk though. Raw strawberry vanilla hemp milk? I'm in! It would even be good to just drink on its own.

I just stocked up on hemp seeds to make hemp milk. I'll have to make the cereal. It looks good.
